I started karting in 2023, and since then it’s been a mix of learning and realizing very quickly that “local racing scene” and “Hawai'i” don’t really belong in the same sentence.
My home track, Pu‘unene Karting Circuit, hasn’t really had official races since 2015. So if I want proper competition, I have to travel to the United States. Which is fun… until you see the travel costs, then it's extremely unhelpful...
Still, I show up whenever I can and try to learn as much as possible every time I’m on track.
Most of my racing ends up being trips to the United States, where I show up, try to learn everything in about 3 hours, and then immediately get thrown into qualifying.
My goal is pretty simple:
FIA Karting → Formula 1
I know it sounds insane when I type it out right now, but I’d rather aim too high than not aim at all.
I'm also aware that everyone in karting says something like that at some point. The difference is I’m actually from a place where just getting to the starting grid takes more planning than the race itself.
